With the increasing number of data sets from various
airborne and satellite sensors, the fields of image and data fusion are
gaining more and more importance, and it has become clear that by means of
integration of complementary data sets, people can obtain more and better
information about an object or study area than can be derived from single
sensor data alone. The goal of this Working Group is to coordinate research
and activities regarding Remote Sensing Data Fusion, through sharing data
and organizing meetings and workshops that address the following terms:
WG VII/6 - Terms of Reference:
- Automatic registration of images with
different sensor, different resolution and different acquisition mode.
- Concept study and methodology development of
data fusion at different processing levels, especially at feature and
- Multi-source/multi-sensor data fusion and
integration methodologies, such as fusing laser scanning data with
images, fusing high-resolution satellite optical imagery with
high-resolution SAR imagery, etc.
- Applications of data fusion to feature
extraction, object recognition, classification, mapping, disaster
monitoring, change detection, etc.
- Information mining from multi-platform,
multi-source, multi-scale, spatial-temperal
data, e.g, geometric information,
topological information, statistical information, etc.
